Driven AM presents the NYC return of a true DnB legend and owner of 31 Records.....
DOC SCOTT (31 Records, UK)
A true veteran and leading tastemaker in D&B, Doc Scott has been an essential and pivotal figure in the scene since before its inception and continues to push things forward. Founding member of ‘A Bunch Of Cuts’, his DJ sets in the mid-90s became legendary, notably at the Metalheadz Blue Note sessions and ‘Speed’. Although primarily a DJ, his productions are definitive classics within the scene, such as ‘Here Comes The Drumz’ on Reinforced, the first ever Metalheadz release ‘VIP Drumz’, to the more mellow sounds of ‘Tokyo Dawn’ on Good Looking Records. His own label 31 Records, sparked by Scott’s ground-breaking ‘Shadow Boxing’, has also been a hub for new talent, pushing some of the biggest artists today in their early days.

Its been a while, but NYC Drum and Bass Review is back! and I cant think of a better way to come back than a Direct Drive Party! Direct Drive is one of the original weekly nyc DnB parties and a cornerstone of NYC DnB.
Founded In 1998 by legendary promoter, DJ and entrepreneur DJ Seoul, Direct Drive paved the way for other generations of promoters and helped kickstart the career of many DJs worldwide.
Direct Drive parties were known for their mix of vibes, DJs ability to tell a story and break new hits records while preserving the culture and always paying respect to the classics.
***[side note- What really separated direct drive from the other dnb nights, >mainly Konkrete Jungle< , was no MC. They advertised the night this way. It was more liquid and Konkrete Jungle was harder, darker, and lots of MCs. The 2 nights occupied different spaces so it was really nice to have the diverse takes on the dnb.]
For their first return event, they have enlisted Direct Drive generals The Burner Brothers alongside NY mainstays, DJ Inna K, Lokshot, newcomer from London DJ Dynamic and World of Drum and Bass MC Digga BruckShot

The review-
I've been going to direct drive since 2000 and this is really one of the 2 weekly nights that "was nyc dnb". And when I saw it was free, close to my house and the legendary Burner Brothers were playing I had to go. We got to the venue Title around 12 ish…
Entering the space was like the most basement party you could go to. You walk down like 2 stories into a deep basement club....
sooo I really came out to see the Burner Brothers and anything else would be a plus... I didn't even know who else was playing [ :( ] and like just getting there, walking down the stairs, the DJ is killing it, fucking killing it... and did not stop killing it until sometime after she left the stage. I've been to 100's of dnb shows and I must say Inna K was DOPE... start to finish. I would try to leave the room to the bar [which was hooked up to the other room so u could hear the DJ] and I would have to keep running back for some track I had not heard b4 or just a great set...
Burner Brothers
I've been going to dnb shows for over 10 years and I must say this was one of the best skilled dance floors I have seen in many- many years. The dance floor is what dnb used to be about and I watch the movement seem to fade over the years.....
BUT
This night was DOPE!
Seeing that dnb/jungle was very alive and very well on the dance floor was the best. The dance floor was not too packed and if you were there to dance to some of the best local dnb - you found the right spot.
Christian Bruna's set was A+ and had the floor moving.
Paul C was A+ as well.
This bi-monthly dnb night at the Pyramid hosted by Paul C is
the best [somewhat unknown] dnb night in nyc [come late]. If you are in the city and love jungle its the best on a hot humid night to make your way out to the pyramid and real nyc dnb.

I grew up going to Phoenix Landing "Elements". This is the best DnB in Boston [period!].
The DnB scene here is alive and well!! This show was pretty nuts -
The dance door was PACKED and going crazy- This was a night not to be missed!

This was a fun show! New Zealand was in the house. The dance floor was packed. A little tight for me [not to much space to dance] but there was a great vibe and the floor was moving. If you were there you should check out Konkrete Jungle on Mondays. The DJ's there regularly spin at this level.
