KING LIONBUB'S TRIUMPHANT RETURN & ILLEXXANDRA KILLS IT
Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn................... DNB was pretty SICK in Brooklyn today! Show was sick/ not to be missed!
BUT if u did
We at NYC DnB Review got u!
...... I went early to catch part of the first show
BUT
The big part that SUCKED about this event was that you could not leave once entering.... wtf?... after paying 15$. in the middle of the warehouses- where are people going to go? Dnb Review would have full coverage of the event but... I get paranoid getting stuck in a small space lol....
Well because of this one thing happened. Instead of going outside to smoke (there was a smoking area) everyone started smoking in the event space and it was almost... almost like being back in the early 2000s at the Pyramid Konkrete Jungle!!!!!!! this was kind of rad! back in the day the room would be FULL of smoke/ u could not see the DJ from half way across the room- like walking thru a cloud.... it was dope! I remember when they banded smoking. the show after could see the DJ from the other side of the room :(....
We at Dnb review call it the way it is.... Illexxandra wasn't some ironic name, she was actually I-L-L!!!!
really well thought out set. I walked into Illexxandra's set and and she was playing something at 3500rpm and I was ready to walk. It was day light out and RnB?..... not dnb :(..... (i videoed it and u can judge for urself)..... (we arrived late...but not late enough). I explored the back rooms of the bar.... At some point her set got a lot better. She actually started to really kill it and kept doing so until the end. It would have had a perfect set if it hadn't been for that misstep..... sadly we cant over look it...
These day-time events top out around >>7:00<< and the crowd dies down from there. Illexxandra had the right time spot & right set- and she had the show. Dance floor went nuts. The person I was w commented it felt like early 2000s (best complement u could get!!). It was dope seeing the dance floor really move again. It looked like Illexxandra had done her homework and had a real set put together. She was working w oldies for a bunch of the tracks (which im normally not into) and some reallllly worked. I had not heard a number of her tracks (the bar by which all are judged) and they were sick. A highlight was the Super Mario set (which I got a dope shot of- see the video).
She was full rad and it was worth going out just to see her set.
and
Then came the LION-
LionDub was DOPE
🔥
🔥
🔥
- Illexxandra was a hard act to follow! He killed it from the intro till we left. (it got a little smoky🔥
🔥
🔥
after he started and the person I was w had asthma so we had to split.) As we left - I could not stop filming in the street, it just kept getting better.🔥
🔥
🔥
Its been a min and its so good to have the OG back spinning dnb in NYC, his rightful place. He was spinning a lot of his own tracks (respect) and they were as good as they come. The 15$ ticket price scared away most of the children, and if not the smoke got em... yet there were still a few 4 year old's running around (RESPECT- these will b the hardcore ^^).
This show was full fire- This was not to be missed!!!

Sick show! This is the 1st DnB show I've been to since COVID started!! What a way to come back w DB and Dara playing an ill set w bunch of crowd pleasers.
and.........
IT WAS FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU Driven AM and everyone involved!!
I walked into the show and DB is right there, KILLING IT!!! ^^ The show had a positive vibe that fit well w COVID making everyone mentally insane. The crowd dug it. I hear some of these tunes all the time but not at a show spun by the best and on speakers like that (if u were in the right spot they were load).
On the downside.... it was kinda bright out- I was able to clearly see the sun for at least half the show. Konkrete Jungle did not begin to get going until 1 am...... It was way bright for my taste but any DnB show is A++++. I'll take anything and the lineup here was as good as it gets. I guess the early timing of the show is cuz half the people brought their kids w them. Imagine some of ur first childhood memories on a dnb dance floor ^^- raising the next generation from the start!!
DJ Mousky's set was one of my favorite parts of the show. He and Agent 137 were digging in the crates [or their flash drive lol] to keep it interesting. I'd go def go back for his set ^^
One of the highlights of the show was seeing NYC Jungle Legend >>> ?Human at the show!!! I saw this kat spin and MC 100 times back in the day and just all over the east village. This kat was walking jungle. I was always trying to get my shorts to rock like his. I still have my survivalist CD (#1) that he sold me at a Pyramid show. It was dope to reconnect and pay respect to one of the founders of the scene.
and this wall is literally across from the club- and I was there when they painted it this summer-

Direct Drive July 13 2018!!!
Its been a while, but NYC Drum and Bass Review is back! and I cant think of a better way to come back than a Direct Drive Party! Direct Drive is one of the original weekly nyc DnB parties and a cornerstone of NYC DnB.
[as advertised]
Founded In 1998 by legendary promoter, DJ and entrepreneur DJ Seoul, Direct Drive paved the way for other generations of promoters and helped kickstart the career of many DJs worldwide.
Direct Drive parties were known for their mix of vibes, DJs ability to tell a story and break new hits records while preserving the culture and always paying respect to the classics.
***[side note- What really separated direct drive from the other dnb nights, >mainly Konkrete Jungle< , was no MC. They advertised the night this way. It was more liquid and Konkrete Jungle was harder, darker, and lots of MCs. The 2 nights occupied different spaces so it was really nice to have the diverse takes on the dnb.]
For their first return event, they have enlisted Direct Drive generals The Burner Brothers alongside NY mainstays, DJ Inna K, Lokshot, newcomer from London DJ Dynamic and World of Drum and Bass MC Digga BruckShot

The review-
I've been going to direct drive since 2000 and this is really one of the 2 weekly nights that "was nyc dnb". And when I saw it was free, close to my house and the legendary Burner Brothers were playing I had to go. We got to the venue Title around 12 ish…
sooo I really came out to see the Burner Brothers and anything else would be a plus... I didn't even know who else was playing [ :( ] and like just getting there, walking down the stairs, the DJ is killing it, fucking killing it... and did not stop killing it until sometime after she left the stage. I've been to 100's of dnb shows and I must say Inna K was DOPE... start to finish. I would try to leave the room to the bar [which was hooked up to the other room so u could hear the DJ] and I would have to keep running back for some track I had not heard b4 or just a great set... Burner Brothers

Entering the space was like the most basement party you could go to. You walk down like 2 stories into a deep basement club....
